Certification of Competence for Prospective Graduates in The Construction Field in 2022

The Civil Engineering Study Program at the University of Nusa Putra again holds an annual routine activity of level 7 expert certification for students who want to graduate and for alumni a maximum of 2 years. this is often called a fresh graduate SKK.

This activity is in collaboration with PUPR, Regional III Construction Services Center, Jakarta. BJKW3 Jakarta entirely financed the cost of this certification. The Civil Engineering Study Program of Nusa Putra University has collaborated with PUPR Wliayah III Construction Services Center (BJKW3) since 2019. This certification activity is the 4th time being held at Nusa Putra University.

The public can take part in the provision of 32 lesson hours, but only those who meet the requirements and have been registered on the PUPR BJKW3 link to get a certificate of expert competence. The requirement for obtaining a competency certificate was formerly called SKA and in 2022 it is now SKK. The requirements are final semester Engineering students and a maximum of 2 years graduates, and register as candidates for debriefing training, attend debriefing, written exams at SIBIMA Construction, and interview tests. After going through the entire process, we entitled a person to a level 7 SKK equivalent to a Young Expert competency certificate if it is SKA.

The presenters in the 32 JPL debriefing are experts from academics and practitioners who already have a ToT (Training of Trainer) certificate, and 6 lecturers at Nusa Putra University who already have a ToT certificate. The speakers from practitioners are the General Chairperson of Gataki, Dr. Ir. Desiderius Viby Indrayana, ST., MM., MT., IPU., ASEAN. Eng, and myself Ir. Paikun, ST., MT., HDI., ASEAN. Eng as a practitioner as well as an academic. As a practitioner, I am the Head of PII Sukabumi District and a director in a construction service company. Paikun is not only a practitioner but also an academic, besides being a lecturer in Civil Engineering, he is also the Head of the Civil Engineering Study Program and the Head of the RCSU (Research & Community Service Unite) at Nusa Putra University and as the Chair of the Indonesian Research Lecturer Association (PDPI) in the Sukabumi Regency.

The speakers in this certification activity comprised academics from the University of Nusa Putra and other universities that have collaborated with the Civil Engineering study program at the University of Nusa Putra. Idi Namara, ST., MT as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology at Tanri Abeng University. From Maranatha Christian University, Bandung, Dr. Deni Setiawan, ST., MT as Head of Civil Engineering Study Program at Maranatha Christian University. Lecturers from the Civil Engineering Study Program at the University of Nusa Putra as presenters included Utamy Sukmayu Saputri, ST., MT Secretary of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Muhammad Hidayat, M.Eng Lecturer of Civil Engineering, and Nadhya Susilo Nugroho, ST., MT Lecturer of Civil Engineering Study Program Nusa Putra University.

They will hold the debriefing and competency certification activities for prospective graduates and alumni in the construction sector for 4 days, starting from Monday 05-08 September 2022 using zoom https://bit.ly/3B9HVZc. So for the public who will take part in the debriefing, they can access the zoom link, as an experience if they are going to apply for an Expert Certificate in the construction sector or currently called SKK.

SKK is a valid certificate issued by BSN (National Standardization Agency) which is issued through LPJK. This SKK certificate is an expert requirement in order to carry out engineering activities. In accordance with the Law on Construction Services No. 2 of 2017 every worker must be certified. For workers who work in engineering but do not have a competency certificate, they will be subject to sanctions, not only workers who are subject to sanctions, even companies that employ uncertified workers will be penalized.

Based on the Engineering Law no. 11 of 2014 concerning Engineering, everyone who carries out engineering activities must be certified, if not certified based on this Law in Article 16 paragraph 2 Administrative sanctions as referred to in paragraph (1) are in the form of: a) written warning; b) fines; c) temporary suspension of Engineering activities; d) suspension of Engineer Registration Certificate; and/or e) revocation of Engineer Registration Certificate. In addition to administrative sanctions, fines can also be imposed for people who carry out engineering activities without having a certificate of competence.

Based on the provisions of the legislation, the Civil Engineering Study Program of the University of Nusa Putra provides competency training for prospective graduates and alumni for a maximum of 2 years, so that students and alumni have the competencies and are certified as needed by the community and the construction industry in particular. The hope is that in addition to prospective graduates and graduates of the Civil Engineering Study Program at the University of Nusa Putra, apart from having the required competencies in the field, they are also eligible to work in accordance with Law no. 2 of 2017 concerning Construction Services, as well as Law no. 11 of 2014 concerning Engineering.
